Andy Toy, President/Managing Partner
In 1999, Miller Aviation merged with Corporate Wings and they started the Flight Options program. Andy was responsible for the acquisition and pre purchase management of much of the original pre-owned fleet. During this time frame, well over 100 aircraft were purchased for the program and put into service. In September 2002, Andy formed Andy Toy Aircraft Sales specializing in the sale of quality pre-owned Corporate Jet and Turbo Prop Aircraft. Based out of Mentor, Ohio, the company provided Aircraft Sales, Acquisition, Consulting, Appraisal, and Pilot Services.
In February 2004, Andy merged his company with Aircraft Completion Management and formed Axiom Aviation. As President of Axiom, Andy is responsible for long term strategic planning as well and management of aircraft sales operations.
Andy is currently serving a two year term on the Board of Directors for the National Aircraft Resale Association and is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the National Business Aircraft Association. He also represented the Rochester New York Flight Standards District Office as an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. With over 9,000 hours, Andy holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Citation type rating and a Flight Instructor Certificate with Instrument and Multi-engine ratings.
Mike Herchick, COO/Managing Partner
Prior to the formation of Axiom Aviation he held management positions at Fairchild, KC Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace and Flight Options. While at Westfield KC & Gulfstream he was responsible for the growth of the refurbishment department. At Flight Options he was on the team responsible for acquiring the fleet of pre-owned aircraft and specifically managing the large cabin aircraft from pre-purchase, through recompletion and upgrades to operations delivery. He was instrumental in developing vendor relations and performance requirements, designing and standardizing of interiors and paint. In addition, he was responsible for the development of the refurbishment program for the fleet of 210 aircraft as well as integration of Flight Options fleet standards during the Travel Air/Flight Options merger.
Mike is also an experienced A& P Licensed aircraft mechanic and holds a Private Pilot License which he earned after graduating high school a year early to begin his college education. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree in Aviation Management as well as an Associate Degree in Aviation Management.
Rich Newton, Director of Appraisal Services
Prior to joining Axiom Aviation, Rich had a long and varied career in Asset Management for many financial institutions, including JPM Chase, Bank One, Bank of America and Security Pacific Bank. At Chase he was the Aircraft Asset Manager for 17 years, overseeing a diverse portfolio of business jets, turboprops and helicopters. He was responsible for all internal asset valuations, regularly producing more than 250 reports a year, while managing a $4 billion aircraft portfolio. In his valuation career, he has evaluated a wide range of aircraft assets ranging from Boeing 777 airliners to single seat crop dusters.
He has provided opinions for Axiom’s clients relating to current values, residual forecasts, age life analysis, portfolio concentration reviews, diminution of value analysis and market segment analysis. He has also contributed industry review articles for publication.
He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (Aircraft Specific) with the American Society of Appraisers. He has been a regular speaker at conferences, including those staged by the ASA, HAI Heliexpo, Bombardier, National Aircraft Finance Association and others. He is also an instructor for the ASA Aircraft Appraisal course and a member of the HAI Finance & Leasing Committee.
Rich has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Oregon State University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Oregon. He lives and works in Columbus, Ohio.
